Connections. April 2022

In-Person-ally, we’ve had a great month!
Well, April has come and gone in grand style. Week one saw us shortlisted for an IPG Award, thanks to you our wonderful clients, shortly before descending upon The London Book Fair in rip roaring fashion. We’re still reeling from this year’s show, where the buzz was so palpable you could taste it.
And the fun doesn’t stop there. We’ve been enjoying more face to face meetings of late, preparing for another big event; The British Book Awards. Plus, the last week of April saw us actually win said IPG Award for Services to Independent Publishers!
One of our main takeaways from this year’s electric Book Fair was a tangible shift in the attitudes and missions of publishers across the board. Specifically that they are really thinking about how to sell directly to readers now. And it couldn’t come at a better time: we’re perfectly poised to help them, and you, deliver.
Thanks,

1. Thanks to you… ?
On one fateful day in the OXO Tower, London, Glassboxx won the GBS Services to Independent Publishers Award at the IPG Awards! We’re over the moon; incredibly proud to win and be shortlisted among great publishing businesses, and extremely grateful to be recognised. We want to thank the IPG, of course, but primarily you, our publishers, who nominated us. What a year it’s been. ?

Marketing Highlights
Launch day with Muswell Press ?
A book series following Singapore sleuth Inspector Low’s adventures was the focus of this marketing campaign. With Muswell Press, tightly linking with Neil Humphreys himself over in Singapore, we prepared content to be shared throughout one day (and beyond).
We made noise all about Humphreys’ series in the form of a Bookmark Post, highlights, free eBook offers, and a brand new post format: the eBook sneak peek. The free eBook offers are set up to last the month, and the content is designed for Muswell and Neil to post, repost, and re-repost to their heart’s content.
Contact us if you’re interested in putting together marketing campaigns with us to make noise about your digital offering.
eBook Sneak Peeks
Move over Audiobooks ?
Here comes another string to the social media bow. We always want to talk about eBooks and Audiobooks in ways that are unique to each format. So, in the same way that it makes sense to talk about Audiobooks with audio (preview videos), we want to lean into the eBook style.
And how does that look on social media? Micro snippets that tantalise readers and give them a slice of the eBook experience. You’ll see from our posts with Birlinn Publishing, or Muswell Press, that these snippets emulate the eReader feel. Plus, since you’re already supplying previews of your eBooks to stores, we’re ready to take a fitting snippet and create an original social media moment.
Maybe you’ve thought of more ways to create buzz around your eBooks that is unique to your content. Let’s talk about your dreams and schemes!

Book Fair Blues ?
We had a blast at London Book Fair, and we can’t (and won’t) stop talking about it. For a while, at least. Like everyone, we saw familiar faces, met clients and partners we’ve known for two years but not yet seen, and made some great new connections. Publishing folk were beaming to be around each other again, remembering how productive three dimensional meetings can be.
Our team put together a show reel (on TikTok and Instagram) of our time at the Fair, for your entertainment. This year was all about Scrapping Audiobook Tax, empowering everyone to sell eBooks and Audiobooks direct, and many exciting projects coming into play. If you wanted to meet with us and didn’t quite make it (it was a busy week), let’s catch up in the next few weeks!
Here’s a summary of our week in images…

We commit to sharing everything with you. Every hiccup, every fix, every patch. Last month, these are the most common issues we faced. View the full report below.
This month, the number of replies and handling time it took to resolve issues decreased. Our support team were able to find solutions and fixes in fewer replies.
