Promotional Tokens
Overview
A fixed-use token that can be used to distribute free or promotional digital content. Examples include 30 days of free access to a title for an email list, a complimentary copy sent to a journalist, or a social media giveaway for a limited number of users.
Pricing
Charged at a gratis fee only when a token is redeemed (not when it is generated).
For example, if 100 tokens are generated but only 10 are redeemed, charges apply only to the 10 redeemed tokens.
Ownership of Steps
- Token generation: Publisher
- Token distribution: Publisher
- Token redemption: End user
Offline Bulk Sales (Two Models)
1. Direct Fulfilment
Overview
An email-based fulfilment system that can be used to create reader app accounts and automatically assign digital titles to them. This option is particularly suitable when the purchaser (e.g. a course lecturer or organisation) has the email addresses of the end users.
By removing the need for token redemption, this approach is more streamlined for the end user. Recipients simply receive an email notifying them that content has been given to them, and can access it by logging into the reader app using the same email address.
Ownership of Steps
- Direct fulfilment generation: Publisher
- Direct fulfilment distribution: Glassboxx (automated)
- Content access: End user
- End users receive an automated email with an app download link and access instructions
- Users sign in with their email address to access the content
2. Token Fulfilment
Overview
A token-based fulfilment method designed for third-party bulk purchases. Tokens are generated by the publisher and provided to the purchaser, who then distributes them to the final recipients.
This is ideal when an individual or organisation purchases multiple copies of the same digital title at a discounted rate and wishes to distribute access themselves (e.g. an author sharing copies with contacts).
Ownership of Steps
- Token generation: Publisher
- Token distribution to purchaser: Publisher
- Tokens are generated and can be downloaded as a CSV by publisher on the portal
- The CSV must be sent to the purchaser by the publisher for onward distribution
- It is recommended that a FAQ or guidance document is shared alongside the tokens
- Token distribution to final end users: Purchaser
- The purchaser distributes tokens and instructions to recipients
- Sharing the FAQ or guidance document is strongly recommended
- Token redemption: Final end user
- Recipients redeem the token to gain access to the content
