Connections Christmas 2023

Connections: Your Christmas Update ❄
News
At the time of our last update, we’d been shortlisted for the Stationers’ Innovation Excellence Awards for Service Development – and if you’ve noticed our news section on our website, you’ll have seen that we won! This is something that we’re hugely proud of and underlines all the hard work that has gone into making Glassoxx what it is – a service transforming how publishers sell their books and how their readers access them.
While we have expanded our services to introduce Glassboxx Direct, Publisher Direct, Enterprise Direct, and Retail Direct models, we’ve also expanded our team! We’re big believers in it taking the best people to create the best service, and the meeting of industry knowledge with technical expertise is at the core of Glassboxx. This is why we’ve been delighted to welcome Emma Lowe and Gerard O’Hare as Publishing Account Director and Partnerships Director, respectively. Their knowledge and experience will be invaluable to the partnerships we form going forward!
Events
We had a great time at the Charleston Conference, before jetting off to the AAR/SBL annual meetings. Of course you might have seen us at Frankfurt Book Fair, where we love getting to catch up with connections old and new.
It’s not been long since we returned from the Guadalajara International Book Fair, and we’re already planning next year’s events! There will be more opportunities than ever to catch up with our sales team and find out what Glassboxx can do for you and your book sales, print and digital.
App Updates and New Features
We have been working on a plethora of branded apps in the last few months. We predicted this trend a long time ago and have designed our apps around the need for publishers to make a brand-enhancing direct connection to their readers.
Another recent update that customers will have noticed appearing on their dashboard is ARC – that’s right, Glassboxx now has an Advanced Review Copies function! This makes managing reviews straightforward and more targeted as part of your broader press strategy, and streamlines the review process for publishers both internally and externally. With BookTok here to stay and reviewers having more and more of an impact on sales, having a solution in place to handle review copies is essential!
New to Glassboxx
Recently joining the Glassboxx community are Grey Hill, Fordham University Press, Brambleby Books, Tyndale, Australian Breastfeeding Association, Oakland Consulting Group, and Longleaf Publishing Services, which represent a number of academic presses: Cornell University Press, Purdue University Press, LSU Press, University of Nebraska Press, University of Georgia Press, University of Virginia Press, UNC School of Government, and University of North Carolina Press. Edinburgh University Press are now live, and Columbia University Press have since added digital sales to accompany their direct print sales. Nick Hern Books, Koorong, Hymns Ancient and Modern, Academic Studies Press, BAR publishing, Broadview Press, Leuven University Press, and Multilingual Matters/Channel View Publications are among those signed up and on their way to selling direct. We’re looking forward to welcoming even more in the coming year – after a restorative Christmas break!
Speaking of breaks, we’d like to wish everyone we have met and worked with this past year a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all of us at Glassboxx! We’re already eagerly awaiting the exciting new partnerships that 2024 has to offer and, as ever, we can’t wait to get more books directly into the hands of readers.
