How do pre-orders for audiobooks and eBooks work?

Pre-ordering in Glassboxx lets you sell eBooks and/or audiobooks prior to their publication date so you can capitalise on your marketing and publicity efforts. After buying a pre-order, readers are only able to download the book on or after the publication date, but you now have an additional opportunity in your book marketing strategy and to offer pre-order promotions. We also strongly encourage you to enlist the support of the author too in using their website and social media presence to drive pre-order sales.

The good news is that the process is controlled entirely by the publication dates sent in your metadata, so nothing extra is needed from you to make this work!

For Vendor+ sales from your Glassboxx product landing pages or Buy Now links, books with a publication date within 30 days are purchasable, with the book landing page and checkout displaying the message ‘This is a pre-order book and will be available to download on DD Mon Year’. On the day of publication, the reader will also be sent an email by Glassboxx letting them know their pre-ordered book is now downloadable.

Books with a publication date beyond 30 days are not purchasable, with the book landing page but the message ‘This is a pre-order book and will be available to pre-order on DD Mon Year’ is displayed.

For Vendor sales from your own websites, you could implement a similar process or this, or control pre-order sales in the way you prefer.

In the Glassboxx app, before publication date, the pre-ordered book has a banner letting them know when the title is downloadable. From the publication date, the book can be downloaded as normal.
